Many businesses find themselves facing personal grievance claims as a result of making mistakes in applying their employer obligations rather than maliciously neglecting them.

Often we hear from business owners – you just don’t know what you don’t know.

This training session will be centered around growing capability for managers and/or business owners to ensure they understand their employer obligations on a day to day basis to ensure compliance and minimise risk of personal grievance claims or labour inspectorate penalties.

  • This session will cover:

    • The key day-to-day obligations every employer and manager should know

    • Common mistakes that lead to personal grievances—and how to avoid them

    • What to do when tricky situations arise (and when to pause and get advice)

    • Practical, up-to-date guidance tailored for real-world business scenarios

    • HR 101: What you don't know can hurt you: Helping Managers Navigate Everyday Employment Decisions

    • Knowing the basics:  Ensuring managers know the basics of employee entitlements including breaks, leave, pay and health and safety

    • How to deal with ending employment: An introduction on how to manage challenging areas such as poor performance, misconduct, resignations and termination

  • By the end of this session, you’ll:

    • Understand your legal obligations as an employer or manager

    • Be equipped to handle everyday employment decisions with confidence

    • Know when to seek advice before taking action

    • Reduce the risk of personal grievances and unintentional breaches
